Azure is at the center of enabling cloud computing for Microsoft services and our public cloud business. The Azure development team is responsible for the design, implementation, and delivery of Azure technology including Compute, Networking, Storage, HPC (high performance computing) and Engineering Systems.

This is a Senior Program Manager role in the Azure Office of the CTO Incubations Team. You will work with the team to incubate strategic and high potential projects and technology within the Azure eco-system and across the industry.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include incubating and managing projects from conception and inception through to productization. The team is dedicated to working with the industry and community, open sourcing many of our projects. The role includes significant open-source community engagement, including project launches, facilitation of community contributions, and producing sample/example applications of incubated technologies.

The ideal candidate will thrive in intense, multitasking, interrupt-driven worlds, enjoy building systems software and working on open-source projects that have a developer focus including programming models, run-times and system level components. They must be able to maintain confidentiality and work well with senior management. Strong analytical and interpersonal skills are required, as this candidate must be able to build bridges between groups, providing strong team, community and industry leadership.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • 5+ years of relevant software design and development experience, preferably specializing in distributed computing
  • 3+ years of professional program management experience in the technology field

Preferred:

  • Proven software engineering experience with cross-org impact
  • Proven design and coding skills
  • Experience with authoring and producing whitepapers and presentations
  • Outstanding technical problem solving and debugging ability
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with hardware design and/or optimization of core operating systems software
  • Experience with non-Microsoft platforms and technologies
  • Familiarity with open source software systems and methodologies

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check. This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
