The Substrate App Platform group is part of M365 Core Platform organization. This is an interesting point in time as M365 evolves from an email platform to a platform that enables a deep pipeline of Microsoft apps and services that leverage the Substrate’s scale and high-value data to deliver intelligent experiences to end users. We need the best and brightest to take the initiative and work with engineers across Office Product Group and Microsoft to build the next-gen platform in the Substrate. This engineering role is in a strategic forward-thinking and impactful COGS saving project working on architecture, design and implementation of key infrastructure and pipeline, and schematizing high sematic user behaviors and events data model, and understanding of last user action time on Substrate resources. This is one of the rare opportunities for you to learn and grow in building a mission critical high-scale subsystem in the Substrate.


Our team has a great mix of talent and we are looking to add to it so we can continue to drive forward with the latest in Cloud and Platform technologies. We are looking for a Principal SDE candidate with strong analytical, design, development and communication skills. Responsibilities include define, design and development of the Substrate core infrastructure to enable intelligent scenarios. You will collaborate with teams across Microsoft and own driving initiatives for computing and understanding every aspect of user behavior and sematic events as well as making them reliably consumable by other developers.


Basic Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate must have 8+ years of experience building server/service applications

  • BS, BA, or MS in Computer Science

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience shipping large scale, high-volume services

  • Deep system design experience is a definite plus

  • Proficiency in object-oriented design is a plus, with C# and .NET preferred

  • Passionate about developing software and service with high quality and engineering standard

  • Team player and excellent communication skills
