Global Carrier Services Engineering (GCS)
The Global Carrier Services Engineering team’s vision is to operate the highest availability and reliability PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) cloud services available, serving as the 24 x 7 x 365 authoritative nerve center or Microsoft’s rapidly growing PSTN services.
Be responsible for ensuring operational availability, reliability, and scalability of our cloud-based software services
Design, write and deliver software and infrastructure to solve problems relating to mission critical services, and create solutions to prevent problems from recurring, with the goal being to automate response to all non-exceptional service conditions.
Influence and collaborate across orgs to bring best practices, architectures, standards, and methods for large-scale distributed systems.
Work with Microsoft’s Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) carrier and equipment ecosystem partners to deliver dial-tone, voice and other related telephony services to our first-party and third-party Calling and Meetings products.
Participate in releasing, deploying, monitoring, and managing commercial cloud software at scale
5+ years’ experience of Service Engineering directly supporting development and quality in a product engineering team environment.
5+ years’ experience of scripting/coding using one or more of the following: PowerShell, C#, Python, VB.NET
2+ years’ experience with Azure configuration and management.
Knowledge/experience of cloud-based distributed systems and micro services architecture.
Knowledge/experience of Internet network architecture and working/functioning principles.
Experience with Voice over IP, specifically SIP/RTP, highly desirable.
Experience analyzing network packet captures and signaling traces
Experience working with SBC’s, media gateways, circuit-switched telephony, SS7, ISDN/ISUP.
Working knowledge/experience of data analysis and visualization fundamentals with ability to spot patterns and trends in large data sets and identify anomalies.
Strong problem solving and drive for results.
Passionate about continuous improvement in process and services.
