We are looking for an engineering lead to run one of our Gameplay Services teams. In this role, you will manage a passionate group of 4-8 software engineers building a broad set of reliable highly scalable (think millions of simultaneous users) distributed services that enable developers to realize their dreams of providing phenomenal cross platform and cross network game experiences to their customers. Areas of focus include matchmaking, sessions/lobbies, publish/subscribe, stats, achievements and leaderboards and underlying back-end technology to support these endeavors.
You will need to collaborate closely with multiple partners, including our own GDX SDK, Tools, Portals, and LiveOps teams, as well as our 1PP and 3PP studios, XPS, Xbox Live, Game Pass, GXP, xCloud, Azure Compute, Azure Networking, the .NET Core team and our own PM team(s). You will manage a team of 4-8 engineers, guide them in their careers, generate energy and help the deliver success
As team leader you should expect to spend about 50% of your time developing, growing and directing engineers to reach higher potential. The balance of your time will be spent coding, driving architecture, innovation, design and development of highly scalable intelligent services/experiences within the team and pushing technology out to partners in the Microsoft Gaming Division (e.g. Xbox Live, Game Pass, GXP, xCloud).

- 8+ years of software development experience
- 5+ years coding in C#, Java, C or C++
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A love of leading people, and building incredible teams
- Experience building positive partnerships between teams and divisions
- Able to quickly resolve ambiguity and respond to rapid change
- A strong performance history
- Experience building high scale distributed systems
- Experience with .NET, and Azure Services preferred
- BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent preferred
