Microsoft’s Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) team builds and operates Microsoft datacenters, which in turn power Microsoft’s cloud business. We anticipate and provide capacity for continuous scale, enabling ~30% of Microsoft revenue through Commercial Cloud ($38 billion in FY20 Q1). The CO+I Engineering team (CO+IE) delivers services, applications, and automation supporting datacenter planning, construction, and operation. We own a large portfolio of services, including workflows that enable predicable, lowest cost datacenter construction, telemetry systems that drive high availability and optimized energy usage, and task and performance management applications that help our operation run as efficiently as possible. CO+I Engineering is a competitive advantage for Microsoft, and an important pillar in its cloud success.

The Critical Environment Engineering team in CO+I Engineering focuses on building world class engineering solutions to manage Microsoft datacenters’ electric and mechanical infrastructure. We are building a few full-stack V1 services to fundamentally change how our data center critical environment infrastructure is managed, monitored and operated. We are looking for a strong full stack software engineer who is capable of front-end software development using open source technologies (React/Angular) and backend software development which is mostly on Azure. The ideal candidate would be a passionate, innovative and self-driven software engineer with willingness to learn new technologies. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with datacenter industry leaders and world class engineers to make a big impact to Microsoft's massive cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Understand Data center Critical Environment domain

  • Design and build web applications using open source technologies (React/Angular)

  • Design and build web services using C#, Azure App Services, Cosmos DB, etc.

  • Work collaboratively with partners to drive clarity in scenarios and priorities.

  • Work independently to drive dependency and clear road blockers.

Qualifications

  • BS degree or equivalent

  • 3+ years of industrial experience in shipping products

  • Self-drive individual with passion to deliver high quality design and code

  • Strong problem solving and communication skills

  • Strong customer focus
