Job Description

TITLE: Principal Data Science

DUTIES: Discover Products, Inc. seeks Principal Data Science in Riverwoods, IL to work closely with management to execute analytical initiatives. Provide thought leadership and strategic thinking to solve business problems by leveraging techniques such as segmentation, optimization, advanced analytics and machine learning. Closely monitor performance metrics and KPI’s to ensure goals are met and course correct as necessary. Provide thought leadership & strategic thinking to translate business problem into analytical framework, and independently recommend actions and provide business insights. Operate as a subject matter expert on statistical analysis, test and design of experiment, analysis methodology, modeling and application, and financial impact analysis. Collaborate with cross-functional partners to understand their business needs, formulate and complete end-to-end analysis that includes data gathering, analysis, ongoing scaled deliverables and presentations. Facilitate implementation of work product and ensure accuracy. Establish and maintain effective performance tracking; identify improvement opportunity, form hypothesis, propose, design and implement tests to drive strategy enhancement and optimization. Lead development and implementation of advanced analytics including customer segmentation, optimization, prescriptive analytics and machine learning algorithm & recommendation to solve business problems. Lead development of Analytical capabilities with the aim of creating long-term strategic data/analytics assets. Deliver effective presentations of findings and recommendations to multiple levels of leadership, creating visual displays of quantitative information. Develop and automate reports, iteratively build and prototype dashboards to provide insights at scale, solving for analytical needs. Consistently follow standard work processes and documentation requirements. Recommend improvement to work processes to increase efficiency while maintaining quality of work. Continuously improve technical and leadership skills through training and development. Promote a risk-aware culture to ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Sciences or a related field and six (6) years of progressively responsible experience performing data collection, manipulation and analysis utilizing technologies including SAS, SQL and R; performing data analysis and reporting, performing segmentation, statistical procedures and advanced analytics on large volume of data; evaluating quantitative results with business knowledge (preferably finance industry) to independently provide assessment of statistical methodology and recommendation for business solution, communicating quantitative results and findings to senior management. In the alternative, the employer will accept a Master’s degree or equivalent in one of the above fields and four (4) years of experience in all of the above-listed areas.
