To achieve this goal, the Cloud AI & Advanced Systems Engineering (CAASE) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, scale and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware. We are looking for seasoned engineers with a strong passion for customer focused solutions, insight and industry knowledge to envision and implement future technical solutions that will manage and optimize the Cloud infrastructure.

We are looking for a Hardware Validation Engineer to join the team.

Responsibilities

  • Work in laboratory environment to validate design and correlate measurement with simulation using VNA, TDR and Oscilloscope.
  • Provide development input to design teams, create electrical product models and documentation
  • Sponsor in-house and independent lab testing or additional connector/cable assembly qualification testing
  • Perform high-speed empirical and analytical signal integrity evaluation of interconnects, PCBs, and chip packages.
  • Experience in failure analysis and troubleshooting skills in a laboratory environment
  • Experience with prototyping solutions and bench testing methodology.
  • Experience with board level validation
  • Experience with test automation with background in scripting
  • Work closely with SI simulation teams to ensure a robust interface design
  • Define and Execute validation test plans for functional, signal and power integrity
  • Must be able to understand circuit schematics and hardware data sheets
  • Strong board and system troubleshooting skills, must be able to work well with board level hardware engineers, software engineers, and mechanical engineers
  • Hands on lab skills including rework, troubleshooting with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and specialized test equipment such as PCI analyzers, in-circuit-emulators and traffic generators/analyzers, operating thermal chambers

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering
  • Fundamental knowledge of the following HW design principals: Signal Integrity, Power, Analog and Digital Design, Computer Architecture
  • 5+ years of overall experience in test validation and automation experience
  • Able to navigate in layout tools used for PCB and Packages
  • Understanding of s-parameters, Smith Chart and frequency domain analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects at the same time
