The Windows Servicing and Delivery (WSD) team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (SWE) to help us drive the next wave of releases that will impact over a billion customers and devices around the world. Our responsibilities are vast, our timelines are short, and we’re operating in a quality focused area to keep customers protected and productive.
We build systems and services to deliver Updates to every Windows device in the world. Our work is critical for the Windows family of devices (PCs, Phones, and Servers), Surface, Hololens and Azure. Our goal is to deliver Windows as a Service (WaaS) as a competitive advantage for Microsoft and the ecosystem. We are building efficient, reliable and scalable engineering systems and processes so we can directly improve device quality and customer experiences via updates, minimize partner cost, reduce OEM time to market, and adapt to changing environments. The customer’s experience with Windows is our primary focus and passion. We believe customer delight is the priority in the success of Windows.
You will help us tackle these big challenges across a wide breadth of responsibilities from the lowest layers of the kernel to our development platform and even top applications. We work and have impact at every level of the stack
Job responsibilities will include lots of thinking and learning. You will also be responsible for improving our existing engineering efforts, which has to start with thinking. To be successful in this role, you should be pragmatic, results driven, and technical in a collaborative environment, to solve tough challenges to address our customer needs.
- 5+ years of development experience working on all phases of a development cycle using C#, C++ or equivalent
- Keen problem solving, debugging and troubleshooting skills
- Critical, creative and innovative thinking skills
- Comfortable with writing technical documents and/or design plans
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent preferred
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
