The Security GRC Engineering organization, within Digital Security and Risk Engineering (DSRE), is looking for a passionate engineer to architect, design and build security GRC solutions for protecting Microsoft assets. This candidate should have proven software development experience, ability to translate business problems into technical designs and solutions while maintaining obsession and passion for securing our software/services, automation, reliability, and the customer experience. In DSRE, the leading security org for Microsoft, our Security GRC Engineering organization manages services end to end. We own the full technology stack from custom application development to the underlying infrastructure. We set the bar for security at Microsoft, often on the bleeding edge of technology and security capabilities while influencing many products to improve.

The Security GRC Engineering team is a fun, dynamic, supportive community of engineers, service managers, and program managers who are committed to delivering the very best solutions and services to our customers in a highly collaborative and inclusive manner. We strive to continue learning and applying solutions that not only exceed Microsoft’s needs but that are also often considered for product and cloud adoption. We build and run security software/services at scale, often in a manner unknown to the industry, which results in industry awards and recognition.


Key responsibilities:

  • Architect, design and implement large scale and full stack systems
  • Provide technical leadership to a cross-functional engineering and operations team
  • Develop managed code to complete designs and test interfaces that solve classes of problems, enable integration across groups of components, improve reuse, and satisfy business, customer, engineering and operational requirements
  • Understand the business and define what is technically needed to meet strategic objectives and the day-to-day running of the service. This includes identification and innovation of new service capabilities that meets customer and security requirements
  • Communicate on a deeply technical level with product engineering and operations teams to improve and optimize both the product and the infrastructure
  • Remains current on new technologies, methods and procedures including, but not limited to, coding practices such as Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Deployment
  • Participate actively in code reviews, bug/issue triage and support well informed decisions towards business and engineering goals
  • Work with customers and collaboration with cross team
  • Partner with PMs and other developers to deliver intuitive and elegant user experiences across the platform
  • Coach and review work of peer members


Required Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in computer science or related or equivalent experience.
  • 2 1/2+ years of software development and/or design experience working with multiple programming languages.
  • Experience with working with Cloud technologies.
  • Must be willing to work with RSA Archer Platform.
  • The successful candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including, but not limited to: C#, ReactJS, JavaScript, PowerShell, SQL, HTML, CSS.
  • Experience of driving deep technical discussion into service design.
  • Experience with owning or driving large scale services, components or feature areas.
  • Aptitude in architecting, designing, coding, debugging, code reviewing and delivering excellent products.
  • Technical passion, extensive problem solving skills, and is able ability to work independently.
  • Basic understanding of networking and infrastructure services.
  • Experience optimizing automation, reliability and monitoring.
  • Ability to collaborate with external teams, partners and customers.
  • Outstanding communication skills, customer focus and data driven approach.
  • Experience with Security Concepts, Governance, Risk and Compliance fundamentals.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

- Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements.
