The One Engineering System (1ES) team inside Microsoft's Cloud and AI division is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to work with us on the next generation of developer services and tools.

Software developers are the productivity workforce of the future. With the developer tools & services market quickly growing and evolving, we have a unique opportunity to help shape internal engineering practices at Microsoft and the broader industry. Our large-scale distributed services for build and test are at the center of Microsoft developers’ workflows and comprise a large part of Microsoft’s internal One Engineering System.

The primary responsibilities of this role are to design and code new software and services to be used by tens of thousands of Microsoft’s engineers and the broader DevOps market. You will work extensively on building developer services that are loved and relied upon by hundreds of thousands around the world. Our services are used by tens of thousands of developers and we build and test millions of projects daily in a distributed service running at scale in multiple data centers across the world. This is a Principal Software Engineer position on the 1ES team, with lots of visibility and opportunity for advancement as you help us build multi-tenant, cloud-scale services serving every product team in the company. Our team is a tight-knit community of engineers who are committed to working closely with internal teams. Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional experience designing, developing, and shipping high quality software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Experience architecting and developing distributed cloud architectures and infrastructure.
  • Experience designing, building and operating highly available, highly reliable systems.
  • Passion for building customer value, improving developer experience and improving teams’ agility.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
