Lead PM, Tech for Justice + Equity

If you would like to work at the intersection of technology and social justice, you are invited to explore an exciting opportunity with Microsoft’s Justice Reform Initiative.  The heart of the initiative is to use data and technology to advance racial equity in the criminal justice system.  We seek to advance community-centric policing strategies, alternatives to arrest, and fairer prosecution. This role is critical to advancing this mission by leading the Tech for Justice + Equity program.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Justice Reform Initiative Lead, you will own the strategic plan and execution strategy for launching a grant-based program to accelerate progress using data and technology in the service of justice reform.
  • Work with external, community-based organizations on social good technology and cash grants which may include capacity building or specific projects. 
  • Identify and execute on opportunities for Microsoft technology to support programmatic outcomes for non-profits and support basic data analytics and data visualization workloads in Azure and Power BI.
  • Leverage community-based social impact teams at Microsoft to land workstreams in specific geographies in the United States.
  • Apply knowledge of Microsoft offerings – especially cloud-based solutions – to be leveraged for civic impact.  The role will require familiarity with data science and/or data analytics methodologies and the ability to scout opportunities to apply relevant techniques in collaboration with subject matter experts in the criminal justice reform space. 
  • Manage relationships with Microsoft partners and consultants to support tech deployment on our premier projects. 

Qualifications

  • Commitment to issues related to racial equity and justice reform and intellectual curiosity about the complexity of related subjects.  
  • Demonstrated experience leading a strategic initiative or creating a new program that delivered measurable results.
  • Experience working with non-profits and thinking through how to overcome challenges associated with limited organizational capacity for technology and data use. Experience working on tech for social good projects preferred.
  • Keen eye for storytelling through data and data visualization, and an ability to work collaboratively with an array of stakeholders.  This includes internal stakeholders to help with telling our own stories of issues and impact, as well as helping our nonprofit partners to develop data visualization tools and capabilities to tell their stories.
  • High EQ and people skills to interface effectively across varied stakeholder communities including criminal justice reform organizations, Microsoft partners, product groups, and other business groups. 
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically but also detailed-oriented to aggressively advance the mission of the Justice Reform Initiative.
  • Quick learner of Microsoft systems and processes.
  • The ability to work independently and within a matrixed environment, a self-starter.
