The Remote Desktop Team is part of the Core Operating System & Intelligent Edge (COSINE) division. We have developed a mature business and build the clients, SDKs and services to support application and desktop remoting on a variety of devices (desktops, phones, tablets, Hololens, etc.) and platforms (Windows, Windows 10X, Android, iOS, macOS, Linux, etc.). In addition, we own and run the Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) Azure service, which is one of the fastest growing technologies that Microsoft has to offer to enterprises.

As an engineer on the Remote Desktop Team, you will work on (1) the next generation of cross-platform Remote Desktop clients and the core protocol code that powers RDP experiences, and (2) Windows server-side components that support existing and new desktop and application remoting features. Your work will involve improving user experiences, connectivity, security, performance, scale and reliability; and engineering components to enhance testability, diagnosability, and telemetry. You will also be working directly with customers to understand and resolve their issues.
- 3 + years of experience as a software engineer, coding in an object-oriented programming language such as C++, C#, Swift or Java.
- 3 + years of experience developing production quality, scalable software.
- Experience designing/building/shipping/debugging production quality software.
- Great design and problem-solving skills, with a strong bias for quality and engineering excellence.
- Demonstrable ability to own and deliver projects and results of increasing technical complexity.
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong leadership, ownership, urgency, and drive to create high quality customer experiences.
- BS in Computer Science or 4 years of equivalent IT work experience.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Screen: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
