The Commercial Software Engineering (CSE) team is a global engineering organization that works directly with customers looking to leverage the latest technologies to address their toughest challenges and transform their industries using cloud-based solutions. We work in collaboration with Microsoft product teams, partners and open source communities to empower our customers to do more with the cloud.  We pride ourselves on making contributions to open source and make our platforms easier to adopt.

We sit side-by-side with our customers to collaboratively innovate custom solutions tailored to solve their challenges. Our work involves the development of high-impact, open source software assets that contribute to the Microsoft platform that are broadly applicable. Important to this role, we’re looking for candidates with a solid foundation in PM fundamentals, a proven track record of driving customer success, experience with Executive communications, and a passion for cloud native application technologies.

The ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements is required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:  

  • Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements.  
  • Candidates must either have active Secret (or higher) US Government security clearance or be willing to submit to a clearance application and maintain any awarded clearance.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Responsibilities

  • Drive customer engagements to deliver well-defined products that generate immediate customer value and high-quality, broadly applicable software contributions to Microsoft products and to open-source communities
  • Influence product roadmaps by developing relationships with product teams, sharing insights and data from customer engagements, and driving executive communication.
  • Participate in hands-on coding activities to maintain up-to-date technical knowledge.
  • Contribute to a collaborative culture that embraces inclusivity and diversity
  • Continuously drive excellence in program management fundamentals to continually build our shared best-practices

Qualifications

We do not believe that any specific education major is a requirement to be successful in this role. We are open to all backgrounds and are looking for candidates with demonstrated ability to deliver on the responsibilities below.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years program management experience including shipping complex production systems that run on a public cloud, managing customer relationships and engagements, triaging and managing priorities
  • Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements.  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Deep understanding of cloud services and architecture, including business drivers and emerging trends across Microsoft and non-Microsoft technologies
  • Proficiency in creating technical reports, white papers or case studies
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or the equivalent
  • Industry experience in one of the following industries: automotive, energy, travel and transportation, financial services, government, health, manufacturing, media & communications, or retail
  • Enjoy travel and comfortable with regional travel up to 25%
