The Microsoft Maps & Geospatial team locations services serve billions of requests every day. We are looking for a strong engineer, who can help us to move faster, improve experimentation agility, process more data and run more complex ML models.

The Microsoft Maps & Geospatial team uses mapping, location and geospatial knowledge to create innovative software solutions for people and businesses around the globe. In addition to providing map rendering, geocoding and routing capabilities, we also perform advanced image extraction, entity conflation, language understanding and metric development at big data scale using a broad spectrum of machine learning techniques.

We partner with internal product groups like Bing, Ads, Office, Teams, Windows, Dynamics, and LinkedIn among others, and we power the Bing Maps and Azure Maps APIs offered to external enterprise developers. It’s an exciting time to be a part of the team, pushing the industry with one of Microsoft’s most unique products.

Almost all of our work involves scalability in some form, whether it's the size of the data sets we work with, the development of features globally across countries and languages, or deploying services at internet scale, you will always need to think big. Also, our work often involves collaborating with team members and other teams both inside and outside of our org, so we're looking for strong team players. A willingness to learn new technologies, new platforms, and new approaches to existing problems would be a big plus.

If you are passionate, creative, and want to thrive on the cutting edge of AI, then Microsoft Maps & Geospatial team is where you need to be!

As a Sr. Software Engineer you will be responsible for end-to-end design and implementation of solutions for place and location understanding problems involving queries and documents from multiple sources and across languages. This will include identifying and understanding the use cases and requirements, designing and building the appropriate solutions, training and tuning applicable models, running internet-scale services, and measuring the effectiveness of solutions, iterating as needed. You will also partner with other Maps & Geospatial teams, as well as teams across Bing and other divisions as our work has broad impact and multiple incoming and outgoing dependencies.
