Call for Postdoctoral Researchers in Economics and Computation or Related Areas

Locations open for consideration: Cambridge MA, New York NY

The Economics and Computation Group at Microsoft Research is seeking qualified postdoctoral researchers to join us in advancing the state-of-the-art in this interdisciplinary field. If your research background is in economics and computation, algorithmic game theory, or a related field, we would love to hear from you!

Microsoft Research offers an exhilarating and supportive environment for cutting-edge, multidisciplinary research, both theoretical and applied, with access to an extraordinary diversity of big and small data sources, an open publications policy, and close links to top academic institutions around the world. We seek applicants with the passion and ability to craft and pursue an independent research program, including a strong publication record at top research venues.

Postdoctoral researchers are hired for a one or two-year fixed-term appointment and receive a competitive salary/benefits package and eligible for relocation expenses. Positions in economics and computation require the completion of a Ph.D. in computer science, economics, or a closely related field before starting at Microsoft Research. We also welcome interdisciplinary applications from candidates with interest in economics and computer science but also strong backgrounds in other fields.

The Microsoft Research Economics and Computation Group includes the following researchers (click on each link to view their respective projects and publications): Moshe Babaioff, Nicole Immorlica, Brendan Lucier, Markus Mobius, Alex Slivkins, and Vasilis Syrgkanis. We have openings at the New England and New York City labs. We collaborate extensively with the other groups at our labs (Microeconomics, Machine Learning and Statistics, Machine Learning and AI, the Social Media Collective, FATE, Computational Social Science, and more) and with groups across Microsoft Research.

Responsibilities

As a postdoc, you define your research agenda in collaboration with other researchers, driving forward an effective program of basic, fundamental, and applied research. We highly value collaboration and building new ideas with members of the group and others. You have the direct opportunity to realize your ideas in products and services used worldwide.
