In addition to performing the core job functions of the Warehouse/Regauge and Processing Operators, the 2nd Shift Lead Operator will support business operations by encouraging productivity, cost savings, quality, on-time delivery, safety and employee morale. The successful candidate must be in good standing in terms of attendance and work performance and will demonstrate the Brown-Forman values and behaviors in the course of performing their job tasks. In addition, this individual will help build a world-class team by providing training, leadership and coaching to team members in how to properly and safely perform work duties. This position may be required to rotate shifts as needed to ensure continuity of coverage.

Responsibilities

Safety

  • Partner with safety manager and EHS committee to promote accident prevention by eliminating potential hazards and incorporating proper body mechanics in training procedures;

  • Provide feedback and suggestions to improve ergonomics.

Morale

  • Actively seek diverse points of view to inform thinking and business decisions;

  • Partner with supervisor and plant leadership to create an inclusive work environment;

  • Effectively work with people from a wide range of backgrounds/skills.

Quality

  • Partner with quality team to monitor the quality of production end products, operational performance, quality and area sanitation;

  • Assist with development of area sanitation documents to provide guidelines for tasks to be completed during down time, etc.

Productivity

  • Investigate line equipment and system failures, monitoring and recording downtime andpartnering with maintenance and production manager to conduct root cause analysis and develop and implement continuous improvement solutions;

  • Ensure product quality and submit work orders for equipment maintenance needs;

  • Provide troubleshooting support and corrective action guidance to operators, partnering with mechanics when appropriate;

  • Optimize downtime by helping identify and document tasks and projects (e.g. HK&S, safety training, guided FLT training, etc.) to be completed during planned and unplanned downtime;

  • Help develop and write SOPs, modifying as appropriate to optimize efficiency and effectiveness;

  • Train operators and technicians on SOPs, serving as lead trainer for new employees;

  • Collaborate with quality, maintenance and logistics to ensure overall effectiveness of operation, serving as a communication liaison among all departments;

  • Serve as backup operator for all positions;

  • Produce daily, weekly and monthly reports as required in a timely fashion;

  • Leverage SAP to track department productivity, barrel movement, tank confirmations etc.;

  • Perform tasks associated with entering and removing barrels from warehouses;

  • Collect samples of barreled whiskey as needed;

  • Perform Dump Floor and Cistern Room operations;

  • Perform general sanitation duties and other tasks as assigned and job conditions required.

Must Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and 1-2 years team lead or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment;

  • Able to work overtime and flex between shifts and sites as needed;

  • Proficient technology and math skills;

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills;

  • Able to perform physically demanding work, including frequent walking, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching upward/downward, crouching, and ascending/descending stairs/ramps/ ladders; pushing and pulling over 100 lbs; entering tight and restricted areas such as rick warehouses; and working in non-climate controlled conditions, enduring temperature swings, cold, heat, etc.;

  • Strong attendance and performance

Preferred Experience

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree;

  • SAP experience.
