As the WW ISV Strategy Leader, you will have the opportunity to shape and drive one of the fastest growing businesses at Microsoft that is at the leading edge of the shift to cloud services and digital transformation. This leadership position is a key role in the ISV Strategy and Field Programs Team that brings deep insight on ISV partner opportunities into our cross-company engagement model. This role leads the effort to document the strategic priorities for the GPS ISV Team as well as the guidance for “how” we will achieve them. Critical to success is ensuring organizational alignment and clarity in execution across interdependent teams (product teams, business groups, engineering, corporate teams, field teams, etc.). You also will be a part of a culture centered on embracing a growth mindset, a theme of inspiring excellence, and encouraging teams and leaders to bring their best each day.

Responsibilities

Strategy and Leadership:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define Microsoft’s Technology Provider (ISV) business vision, mission, strategy, and priorities across all solution areas and segments. The primary focus will be on commercial ISVs with some energy placed on new business models (like customer as partner).
  • Document and champion shared ISV priorities across corporate, global and field teams.
    • Unique focus on GPS ISV scale engagement priorities.
    • Document the end to end ISV journey for internal and external sharing
  • Research and share insights on market trends inclusive of competitive strengths and opportunities. Manage analyst relations directly and in partnership with other teams.
  • Be the ISV business advisory champion, program lead, lead consultant/trainer, and build bridges to other centers of excellence for business model design within Microsoft (lead scoping for partner facing 1-2 day Business Design Sessions).
  • Lead the execution of the strategy including field alignment for insights, resourcing, priorities, and taking action on key opportunities or business hurdles.
  • Research and propose investment decisions and resource alignment to grow Microsoft’s business and impact across the ISV partner portfolio.
  • Influence leadership to align strategy and resources to help the team achieve targets as measured by consumption/usage, solution-build, recruitment, skilling and partner satisfaction.

Business Management:

  • Provide business guidance and oversight to operationalize the ISV strategy delivering to key due dates and deadlines (fiscal planning, resourcing and WW coverage, taxonomy alignment, ISV Program launch, MBRs, etc.)
  • Drive Managed Partner List (MPL) governance and exception triage providing Global ISV insight into the Red Carpet planning strategy and execution.
  • Contribute to core priorities, compensation, end to end engagement checklist, WW scorecard design and implementation.

Qualifications

Experience in cloud channel sales, enterprise software sales motions, and alliance management is required. Effective business management, and communication skills are critical. The ability to write and present complex ideas and concepts to a wide range and size of audiences, from CVP to individual contributor, is a must.

Required / minimum qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, strategic consulting, finance, business planning, and/or equivalent experience (e.g., scaling a business, driving change in a large company).
  • 5+ years of experience in core program management, partner or business development, alliance management in the technology industry; cloud experience preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in enterprise software sales bringing ISV solutions to market globally.
  • Deep understanding of partner business models, digital transformation business drivers, cloud platforms, emerging computing trends and their impact on partner opportunities.
  • Demonstrated project management, leadership, and cross-group collaboration skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills through all levels of the organization.

Additional or preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration/related field and/or Engineering degree or equivalent with a strong academic background
  • Demonstrated hypothesis-driven, problem-solving orientation with ability to leverage both quantitative and qualitative analyses to drive decision making.
  • Strong personal initiative, business instincts, and comfort with ambiguity.
  • Deep understanding of software and business technology markets, trends, and dynamics
  • Demonstrated ability to excel in an innovative, startup-like, fast-paced environment, with rapid exploration and ability to execute
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous high-priority projects (often including project management of cross-functional v-teams)
