The One Engineering System (1ES) team inside Microsoft's Cloud and AI division is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to work with us on the next generation of developer services and tools that drive security improvements into all phases of the development cycle.

Software developers are the productivity workforce of the future. With the developer tools & services market quickly growing and evolving, we have a unique opportunity to help shape more secure internal engineering practices at Microsoft and the broader industry.

The primary responsibilities of this role are to design and code new security-related software and services to be used by tens of thousands of Microsoft’s engineers and the broader open-source community. You will work on integrating advanced Static and Dynamic Application Security Testing (SAST and DAST) tools into Microsoft engineer code authoring, pull request, testing, build and continuous integration delivery systems. You will implement entirely new detections on a variety of analysis platforms to help Microsoft developers address emerging security threats.

If you are equally passionate about security and developer productivity, are excited by constantly learning in an ever-changing environment and market and above all love to focus on customers and building products they love – we want to hear from you!

We believe that being a great team member is as important as being a great technologist. We strive to live in a world where everyone on the team has an equal voice, is empowered to innovate and can make a big impact. While there are many tools in the tool box, we are passionate about Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, Culture of Experimentation and Lean Agile as a way of operating.

If you want to be part of shaping the future of secure software development at Microsoft and the industry and this sounds like the right environment for you - join us!

Our services are used by tens of thousands of developers and we scan, build and test millions of projects daily in a distributed service running at scale in multiple data centers across the world.

This is a Principal Software Engineer position on the 1ES team, with lots of visibility and opportunity for advancement as you help us drive security tooling into all phases of the development loop. Our team is a tight-knit community of engineers who are committed to working closely with internal teams. Our aim is to maximize security without compromising developer productivity.

We want to truly understand security risk and other business requirements and deliver solutions that not only satisfy needs but exceed expectations. You’ll need to recognize and use the complementary skills of other team members and develop shared goals that support great outcomes for our customers and our product groups.

We aim to make rapid progress, and we practice rapid experimentation to deliver solutions for multiple products on fast iteration cycles. If that sounds like the right environment for you, join us!
