The Sustainability team is organized under the CO+I umbrella to deliver trusted, responsible and inclusive cloud services that empower every person and organization on the planet to achieve more. Our sustainability mission is to ensure we demonstrate environmental responsibility through our datacenter operations, our employees and suppliers, for our customers and with the communities in which we operate, breaking the one-to-one relationship between business growth and resource consumption. The sustainability team is responsible for ensuring alignment between the datacenter operations teams and the corporate sustainability mission, initiatives, goals and public communications and reporting. We work across the organization as a team with shared passion to deliver environmentally responsible operations

We are looking for a senior program manager that will support our ability to align our datacenter operations, employees, suppliers, customers and communities with sustainability initiatives. This person will drive projects that encompasses the primary opportunities to drive impact, reporting to the Director of Datacenter Environmental Sustainability.

The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded senior program manager that is willing to go beyond day-to-day core responsibilities to nimbly overcome barriers and deliver an outstanding customer experience. The person must be a constant learner, stay ahead of industry trends, and embrace learning and growing. The person must be a skilled communicator who is effective at working through formal and informal channels to accomplish meaningful and timely results. This role requires a candidate who will be a trusted advisor that defines key business objectives, maps out strategic program elements, and consistently delivers on commitments. The person must innovate through problems and drive creative solutions to complex problems.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial in their approach and is expected to be knowledgeable on Microsoft’s cloud services. In this role, the key responsibilities include the following:

  • Own competitive analysis, research, ROI analysis and programs both regularly and on an ad hoc basis to maximize impact.
  • Support sustainability progress to goals as needed across all four pillars of carbon, water, waste and ecosystems.
  • Interact cross-functionally with a wide variety of people and teams. Communicate highly technical results, methods, and findings clearly. Influence leaders to take action on these findings.
  • Maintain a sustainability scorecard of team projects for monthly business reviews.
  • Identify opportunities for Kaizen process of streamlining efficiency into the operations process.
  • Engage suppliers to maximize impact.
  • Execute workstreams that impact products, manufacturing, logistics, procurement and supply chain as well as other operational areas in pursuit of the above-mentioned objectives.
  • Define simple roadmaps that deliver organizational strategy and vision for environmental and sustainability initiatives.
  • Remove barriers through effective problem solving, coordination with internal stakeholders, and grit.
  • Communicate performance against goals and objectives through narratives and business reviews.

Skills:

  • Creative and innovative thinking; willing to challenge the status quo and propose new ideas and opportunities.
  • Program Management- planning for, executing, and sustaining global programs aligned to the core sustainability focus areas for the corporation. Strict adherence to project deadlines and motivating cross-team collaboration.
  • Excellent strategic and systems-based approaches to solutions generation and project management.
  • Understanding of and experience in implementing on the principles of circular economy.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to write in a variety of formats – including work plans, blogs, presentations, and more.
  • Exceptional organization and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, evaluate outcomes, and challenge conventional wisdom.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Construction, Engineering, Management or similar.
  • 3 + years of experience in combination of the following disciplines: Program management, and/or engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to influence with or without formal authority.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well within a cross-functional, and matrixed business environment, and external consultants. Ability to build organizational alignment.
  • Working knowledge of environmental and social sustainability opportunities/challenges along key industry value chains.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as a member of small teams in a fast-paced, dynamic and creative environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to define, influence, refine, and implement processes, procedures and policies.
  • Demonstrated bias for action – pounces on problems and iterates towards improvement.
  • Proficiency in the use of standard business software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
