The Role
Reporting to the Director of Product, this role will facilitate the gathering and communication of requirements between stakeholders and the engineering teams. Your main task will be to include performing detailed requirements analysis, documenting processes and communication of findings. To succeed in this role you should have a natural analytical way of thinking and be able to explain difficult concepts to non-technical users. A large part of this role is working with stakeholders to elicit problem statements and detailed requirements and to be able to communicate this to the engineering teams. This position is open to qualified candidates in any location with substantial working overlap with any of Megaport’s regional offices: Brisbane, Australia; San Francisco, California; and Berlin, Germany.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Own your product! Create the vision and product strategy, and then build consensus and adoption for your documented strategy and ensure execution against it
  • Adjust product features and schedules to build a commercially successful product
  • Write product requirements in the form of requirements documents, user stories, use cases, and user journeys
  • Define product success, the metrics for measuring that success, and a plan for achieving it
  • Build and maintain a roadmap of future features to delight our users and grow the business
  • Integrate product feedback from our user community, our field team, usability studies, market research into product requirements and the medium-term roadmap
  • Make product decisions based on quantitative analysis of user behavior
  • Continually balance short-term needs against long-term potential
  • Research and propose pricing of your products to drive success and deliver value for our users
  • Facilitate generation of a shared understanding of outcomes and impacts across a broad audience
  • Define, monitor and improve customer satisfaction metrics
  • Partner with product marketing to enable sales by providing the ecosystem directors with the technical expertise required with selling Megaport products
  • Develop market research and competitive analysis content
  • Talents, Skills & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of technology industry experience
  • 5-10 years of product management experience, with recent experience working in or leading cross-functional teams
  • Experience working directly with customers, as well as with other functions such as marketing and UX, to discover customer needs as opposed to wants
  • Curiosity about new technologies, systems, and tools
  • Innovative, design lead and collaborative approach to tasks
  • Scaled agile product development methodology
  • Ability to manage competing requirements and communications to deliver cohesive and comprehensive plans
  • Excellent organisational, leadership, decision making and communications skills
  • Experience managing people and teams that do not directly report to you
  • Prior experience with network technologies (BGP, SD-WAN) are a plus but definitely not required
