The Automatic Source to Product team provides a set of tools and a service that can inspect any source code repository and automatically build it into runnable artifacts or packages. It does it by detecting which languages and platforms are being used in a source code repo, prepares an environment where that code can be built by installing the required SDKs and runtimes, builds the code into runnable artifacts or packages, and optionally runs the application.
We provide the programming language infrastructure for Azure services like Web Apps, Static Web Apps and Functions, GitHub CodeSpaces.
Additionally, we participate in Microsoft's secure software supply chain initiative by building a service that can automatically build and publish packages from their source code.
We are looking for engineers who can help us ensure Azure is the best cloud for developers. We work with multiple language platforms like Node.JS, Python, .NET Core, Java, Go, Rust, Ruby and PHP and their corresponding package managers. There are many opportunities for collaboration with various teams at Microsoft, and we deal with challenges ranging from building thousands of packages to having the most secure build environment possible.
You will work with other engineers in the team to build tools and services to build thousands of repositories, with no configuration or build scripts being given. You will build mechanisms to securely build software, track chain of custody, evaluate trust of software components, transitively build dependencies, and flag use of untrusted software.
You will work with multiple partner teams, internal and external and help raise Microsoft's security posture on our software supply chain. You will work with OSS communities to ensure OSS components also remain protected from attacks on their supply chain. You will work with emerging technologies and standards in this field.
