Our products incorporate ground-breaking technologies, from HoloLens, the Holographic Processing Unit (HPU), to image/video processing, depth sensing, computational photography, computer vision, graphics, machine learning, human-computer interaction, gesture recognition, eye tracking, hand tracking and biometrics. We bring these technologies to current Windows devices including HoloLens and other future devices.

Responsibilities

Interns put inquiry and theory into practice. Alongside fellow doctoral candidates and some of the world’s best researchers, interns learn, collaborate, and network for life. Interns not only advance their own careers, but they also contribute to exciting research and development strides. During the 12-week internship, students are paired with mentors and expected to collaborate with other interns and researchers, present findings, and contribute to the vibrant life of the community. Research internships are available in all areas of research, and are offered year-round, though they typically begin in the summer.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Work on innovative technologies related to machine learning and computer vision
  • Research, improve, design, implement, bring-up, optimize, and validate cutting-edge human tracking algorithms on low-level, multicore systems
  • Own the quality of your algorithm and software
  • Work in close partnership with a team of diverse and talented peers in various disciplines including Research, Silicon, Hardware, Program Management and Quality teams
  • Participate actively in detailed design, code reviews, bug/issue triage with the feature teams, and support well informed decisions towards business and engineering goals

Qualifications

In addition to the qualifications below, you’ll need to submit a minimum of two reference letters for this position. You may wish to alert your letter writers in advance, so they will be ready to submit your letter.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be accepted or currently enrolled in a PhD or advanced program in Computer Science or a related STEM field.
  • Must have at least 1 year of experience with deep learning in visual object detection, and or classification.
  • Must have at least 1 year of experience with computer vision based research project
  • You must e physically located in the United States or Canada for the duration of the internship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to develop original research agendas.
  • Must be able to collaborate effectively with other researchers and product development teams.
  • Some prior knowledge of native development skills in C/C++ design and coding.
  • Outstanding technical problem solving and debugging skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, cross-group, and cross-culture collaboration.
  • Ability to think unconventionally to derive creative and innovative solutions.
