Job Description

TITLE: Principal Data Modeler

DUTIES: DFS Corporate Services LLC seeks Principal Data Modeler in Riverwoods, IL to design databases to support business applications, ensuring system scalability, security, performance, and reliability. Design, develop, and deploy database models for application development to support business applications, ensuring system scalability, security, performance, and reliability. Perform data analysis and data modeling for Operational Application and Analytical Data Warehouse databases. Create and design database coding structure in DDL (Data Definition Language), including the classification, naming, and design of the database. Design and implement improvements in architecture, team processes and functions. Provide technical consulting for teammates and application teams for data naming, classification, design, and handling as a part of the first line of defense for data controls in designing systems. Perform high complexity changes with no supervision. Work with external teams and peers to determine data strategy and architecture. Serve as a subject matter expert in more than one business area. Suggest and implement improvements in architecture, team processes, and functions. Promote a risk-aware culture, ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in job offered or related position: performing ad-hoc analyses; supporting model maintenance; evaluating external and internal databases and systems; utilizing relational and dimensional data design techniques; and utilizing database tools including SQL, Teradata, Oracle, and Snowflake. In the alternative, the employer will accept a Master’s degree in the above-listed fields and four (4) years of experience in the above-listed skills.
