Cloud-native App Dev Services

The Azure Developer Experience team is innovating around how developers build applications for the cloud, in the cloud. We are a tight-knit team of customer centric, data-driven product managers who continually learn the needs of different developers, build solutions that drive productivity for customers, and create products that are as delightful as they are valuable. We work hand-in-hand with one of the most customer-focused engineering teams in the world.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced product and technology leader to set the direction for our Product team that is focused on building services for cloud-native apps and development. Today these services include Azure App Configuration (with feature flagging capabilities for developers), Azure Dev Spaces (for dev collaboration in k8s), and new services for the API economy. The PM Architect for this team will primarily be responsible for the strategy and execution plan for the next set of investments in this area which we believe is critical for Azure’s differentiation among developers.

Examples of activities this team is responsible for include:

  • Identifying and analyzing key trends and opportunities in cloud-native development
  • Building a strong POV on how Microsoft should enable cloud-native apps and development
  • Understanding, contributing to and enabling the open source ecosystem around cloud-native development
  • Defining new services through customer development focused on developers leveraging the cloud for their apps and dev workflows
  • Defining new capabilities in existing services for new scenarios

This is a leadership role requiring strong analytical and communication skills, ability to set a vision to lead the team towards the next wave of development and strengths in synthesizing complex market and technology dynamics into product opportunities. The role involves continuous interaction with customers, analysts, and executive leadership.

A strong background in building cloud services, directing high-performing teams and creating technically sound product strategies, will be the keys to success in this exciting opportunity.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

5+ years in a product management or cloud-native technology role

2+ years experience working with services for developers

4+ years setting and executing on technical strategy

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of the cloud ecosystem for developers

Familiarity with cloud-native application design patterns and DevOps workflows

Demonstrable experience designing and implementing products for development of cloud-native apps

Bachelors' or higher degree in Computer Science or related discipline

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
