Quality Engineer II (Accessibility Compliance)

Does the idea of a fast-paced, continually-evolving, user-centric environment centered around making amazing entertainment excite you? Do you want to directly impact the games and franchises you have been playing for years? How would you like to have your job literally be: “fun and games”?

The Studios Quality team at Xbox Game Studios is looking for a Quality Engineer who wants to make a big impact on the next generation of 1st Party game titles, with a specific focus on Accessibility. You’ll partner directly with game development teams, other quality engineers, and the XGS Accessibility Team to ensure that accessibility is considered through the entire development process of each and every title we release. This team is newly formed to centralize common work across all titles, so you’ll also be able to contribute to the initial efforts around establishing processes and setting up the team and XGS for future success.

As a part of this team, you will be responsible for:

  • Accessibility expertise and guidance (e.g. being an expert on the Xbox Accessibility Guidelines)
  • Providing customized support for each project team to meet the unique needs of each game
  • Building relationships with multiple studios and teams
  • Validation, analysis, and reporting around the health of each title
  • Design foundational processes and workflows for this team
  • Identifying areas for improvement and developing solutions

You will be able to participate in all aspects of the development cycle, identifying defects and driving quality upstream to prevent defects in the future. You will have the opportunity to partner with senior engineers on the team to grow your engineering skills, learning how to more effectively validate quality in games and ways to apply your engineering skills for greater impact.

The successful candidate must have:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent industry experience
  • Strong initiative, willingness to learn quickly to impact the project and team
  • Passion for the entertainment and gaming space, as well as accessibility
  • Excellent communication and cross-group collaboration skills
  • Ability to apply strong engineering skills to testing methodologies and quality assurance

Optionally, the candidate will have:

  • 4-6+ years of hands-on software development/testing experience
  • Knowledge about accessibility and how it relates to games
  • Familiarity with Xbox and other gaming platforms
  • Comfortable with using telemetry and/or reporting through tools like PowerBI
  • Experience in game development
