About the role:

Our Quality Engineering (QE) team ensures that our customers have a delightful experience using our products. We work in collaboration with development teams as testers and advisors to ensure new products and features are held to a high quality standard. This role will focus on acting as a QE for our Fleet App Ecosystem (API/Integrations) features. We are open to multiple levels of experience for this role.

In this role, you will:

  • Be the first dedicated Quality Engineer in a tight knit Fleet App Ecosystem (APIs and Integrations) team.
  • Become a Quality Engineering subject matter expert in Samsara Developer Tools (API infrastructure, webhooks, SDKs) and Customer Integrations (McLeod, TMW Suite, and AssetWorks).
  • Partner with API/Integrations engineering and product teams to define quality goals, expand test coverage, and ensure high quality releases.
  • Support development of comprehensive, multi-tiered test suites that ensure detection of regressions and defects.
  • Run functional, integration, and performance tests on our API and Integrations.
  • Rapidly diagnose issues and perform root cause analysis with API/Integration developers
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Obsess Over the Customer, Build for the Long Term, Growth Mindset) as we scale globally and across new offices

An ideal candidate has:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field, Computer Science or Computer Engineering preferred
  • 4+ years of experience in API, Integration, and/or Performance testing.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, ideally as a QE Team Lead or manager
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable working with teams from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong technical understanding of distributed systems and an ability to learn quickly
  • Working experience with automated test environments, data analysis, and simulation.
  • Proven abilities for effective low-level troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Required proficiencies: RESTful or CRUD API testing, OAUTH2 protocols, webhooks, SFTP
  • Proficiency with scripting and querying languages: Python, SQL

Regarding COVID-19

With the spread of COVID-19, Samsara's global offices will remain closed until further notice with the exception of employees that require access to hardware and lab equipment.

Our primary concern is for the health and well-being of our employees as well as candidates. We have transitioned all interviews and onboarding to be conducted virtually via Zoom video conferencing. Employees are also able to work from countries and states where Samsara is a registered entity through June 2021, full list of locations here. All employees are expected to return to our offices when they reopen with the exception of field-based and fully remote roles.
