The Digital Assisted Workday (DAW) engineering team within CSE leads Digital Transformation of Microsoft’s employee experiences. As we build on this investment, we are seeking an engineering manager (M1) to grow and manage an engineering team to help us better deliver on key initiatives within the DAW, and in partnership with our business stakeholders and other engineering teams across Microsoft. This is an exciting leadership opportunity, one that doesn't come along very often.


This is a Senior Software Engineering Manager role with opportunity for deep technical depth development (e.g., IoT, Cloud, Web, Mobile, Social, Security Software and services), building innovative solutions for a rapidly evolving space aligned to the digital transformation goals for the company (Mobile first Employee experiences) and building expertise in the smart solutions domain. Due to the nature of solutions that we are building for Microsoft and customers, this role provides great executive visibility with ample opportunity for advancement.

You’d be joining a team in a very fast-growing space with a lot of room for growth in both platform and customer aspects. Accountabilities include executing on the DAW vision and play a significant role in working with different stakeholders like technical engineering PMs, Software Engineers, and Architects across Microsoft to identify opportunities, coordinate solutions (adjust priorities, define new features, co-design/develop, etc.), and accelerate delivery of key technology services and capabilities to improve and ensure the best end-to-end customer and employee experiences. You will develop software and services at scale, innovating on the latest technologies while engineering as a DevOps in a highly automated environment with Continuous Integration & Deployment as well as instrumenting telemetry that helps us monitor our service and helps diagnose and resolve issues quickly. You will work closely with peers across teams to help build flexible and high-performing components that enable next generation of business services.

In this role, you are an experienced team manager and effective leader who can collaborate and influence effectively cross-group and cross-company. It's important that you love that kind of work and are proficient at creating and maintaining warm and productive working relationships with other teams. And there'll be a new set of challenges arriving every day, so you’ll need to be able to help your team work closely with partners, reason about priorities, influence key decision and create collaborative agreements about sequencing of work while maintaining good relationships across teams. There is a lot of both platform capabilities and experiences to be built in a secure manner in this job, so a background in services, Mobile development and Azure is a plus. What’s important is that you can show empathy towards business needs, have a customer focused mindset and are proficient at guiding teamwork to deliver great solutions. We are looking for a leader with the experience in running agile teams, passion for mentorship, growing senior talent and collaboration, with a strong focus on the engineering fundamentals.

  • 12+ years of professional software engineering experience
    5+ years of experience leading full stack software engineering teams
  • 5+ years of cross platform Mobile development experience with the ability to contribute to technical architecture across web/mobile, middle tier, and data components
  • 5+ years of experience designing secure, scalable, and cost-efficient PaaS services on the Microsoft Azure platform or equivalent cloud platform
  • 2+ Experience with Live Site monitoring and operating in DevOps environment
  • 3+ years experience in building enterprise scale services on cloud platform


  • Experience working in an Agile methodology (Scrum/Kanban/etc.)
  • Passion for using data and analytics to drive business value.
  • Strong written & verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Experience in handling senior business stakeholders for critical programs
