Job Overview

The High Speed Backplane team is looking to fill an open position for a Staff Project Manager – Engineering. Due to changes in network system architecture and the continued demand for bandwidth, the High Speed Backplane products are in high demand The Project Manager will be leading both platform projects and customer-specific projects as the global team develops next generation products. The position requires strong project management skills and the ability to guide global, cross-functional teams from project initiation through to high volume production. The candidate needs to have the ability to set and manage schedules, to prepare and oversee budgets and to effectively drive teams through the entire development life cycle. Risk identification, establishing contingency/mitigation plans and the ability to lead the team through efficient decision making will play a large part in being successful in this role. The LEANPD process governs what needs to be done, but responsibility for how it is accomplished and the quality of the end result will largely be determined by the Project Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Complete end to end planning, direction and coordination of all the project activities for assigned projects (Lead teams to achieve defined objectives)
  • Process: ensure adherence to the LEANPD process in terms of PAC documentation and team deliverables
  • Leadership: demonstrates integrity, positive attitude, technical competence, a strong work ethic
  • Project Cost: estimate and manage the project expenses, engineering hours and capital expenditures
  • Product Cost: Drive team to achieve both BOM and conversion cost targets to ensure profitability
  • Communications: lead project review/status meetings, engage with customers as needed, present projects at PAC meetings and navigate cross-cultural collaboration
  • Planning: Lead and develop effective project plans including the core areas of project integration, timing, costs, risk management, communications, project quality, human resources, procurement planning, and scope
  • Risk management: create, monitor, and control risk management and contingency plans
  • Problem solving leadership: decision points are quickly identified, reviewed, analyzed, and decisions made while building teamwork and commitment to the project and maintaining project schedule
  • Resource management: set priorities and allocate resources as needed

What your background should look like:

  • Excellent skills in planning and organizing, prioritizing; task management, risk management; coordinate/facilitate projects and meeting objectively, delegates tasks.
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Strong aptitude for problem solving (Show initiative and creativity)
  • General knowledge of Operations/Manufacturing Processes/Tooling
  • General knowledge of design for cost/quality/manufacturability
  • Good negotiating and influence skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with a multi-functional, cross-cultural team
  • 5 years Project Management or related experience
  • Proficiency with MS Project
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Understanding of cost models and business case financials
  • PMP certification a plus
