Azure Sphere is looking for a talented technical writing and instructional design leader. This role will be responsible for strategy planning and execution of the teams efforts to enable Azure Sphere users to achieve their goals through our product. Azure Sphere combines silicon hardware, operating systems, and cloud services into a revolutionary secured IoT offering with a mission that includes providing much needed security to an increasingly connected world.

  • Develop and implement strategy for product documentation and externally facing content
  • You’ll work with engineering, customer support, and marketing teams to understand customer goals, needs, and pain points.
  • You’ll use customer & partner feedback and data about the product & content usage to prioritize the most important work. You can interact directly with customers to understand what they need.
  • You’ll continue to refine and improve your plans and your content through customer feedback, testing, and by keeping current with the ever-evolving technological landscape
  • Identify opportunities to improve customers experiences or reduce operational inefficiencies
  • Lead an organization that creates documentation for Azure Sphere customers and partners
  • Provide ongoing feedback that helps direct reports learn, grow, and develop to achieve career goals and aspirations
  • Use your writing expertise to help your team create a range of content, like conceptual docs, quickstarts, tutorials, end-to-end scenario content, and training.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks, prioritize competing deadlines, work independently, and communicate updates regularly to your manager and product team.
  • Work with geographically dispersed teams and partners



  • Enthusiastic champion on culture rooted in kindness, fearlessness, and trustworthiness
  • 10+ years of experience leading technical program and product management
  • 5+ years of technical writing experience in a software company, writing professional customer-facing documentation or training
  • Strong technical writing skills in U.S. English
  • Obsessive focus on the customer
  • Strong interpersonal skills, cross-boundary collaboration skills, ability to lead with empathy, and demonstrate open and honest feedback and interactions


  • 3+ years of IoT, Real Time Operating Systems, or Microcontroller (MCU, SOC, MPU) industry experience
  • Using GitHub, ADO, and markdown for content creation and management
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, System Administration, Technical Communications, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • A willingness to be adaptive, a motivated self-starter, and a passion to constantly learn and improve with a growth mindset.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Secure Screen: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check and credit history analysis upon hire/transfer and every year thereafter.
